Ahead of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, monitoring activities have been conducted in various markets of Kalai Upazila to keep the prices of daily necessities stable and market management smooth.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Iftekhar Rahman inspected Panchshira Bazar, Bus Stand and Ahmedabad Hat of Kalai Upazila from 3 pm on Saturday (March 1). Upazila Agriculture Officer Arun Chandra Roy and other officials of the concerned department were present with him.

During the inspection, the supply, quality and price of daily necessities in the market were monitored. Wholesale and retail traders were warned not to charge any extra price or create artificial crisis. In addition, if there is any problem anywhere in the supply chain, they were instructed to inform the administration immediately.

To control the market and ensure the rights of consumers, mobile courts were operated in accordance with the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009. During this time, legal action was taken against several business establishments when irregularities were detected.
Kalai Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Iftekhar Rahman said after the inspection, "Our goal is to ensure that the common people can buy essential goods at fair prices and without interruption, keeping in mind the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. To this end, regular market supervision and mobile courts will be conducted. We seek the cooperation of both traders and consumers, so that the market situation remains normal during Ramadan and no one can resort to unfair practices."
