A protest march and human chain were held in Domar, Nilphamari, demanding the arrest and punishment of shepherds Raha and Hasan Ghalib, who blasphemed Allah and His Messenger (PBUH). At the same time, demands were made for the death penalty for RAB officer Alep, who raped him.
This program was organized by Muslims from all walks of life in Domar Upazila at 10:30 am on Sunday (February 23). The protest procession started from Batar More in Domar Bazar and circled the main road of the city. Later, a rally was held at Batar More. A large number of devout Muslims participated there.
The rally was chaired by senior Islamic speaker Alhaj Maulana Abdul Hamid Hossaini and moderated by Maulana Kamrul Islam Arefi. The speakers included Maulana Abdul Khalek, lecturer of the Arabic department of Domar Islamia Fazil Madrasa and president of Majlisul Mufassirin Nilphamari district branch, Jamaat-e-Islami's Domar Upazila Youth Department president Md. Sohel Rana, young Islamic speakers Maulana Abu Sayeed, Arnab Ahmed Alif, Md. Sohan, Md. Rifat.
The speakers said that those who insult Islam should be severely punished so that no one dares to show such audacity in the future. They demanded the enactment of strict laws against insulting religion and immediately urged the interim government to pass a law in this regard in parliament.
Devout Muslims participating in the rally said that insulting Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will never be tolerated. They demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and the maximum punishment. (Pictured)
