Dhaka, 3 March 2025 – The interim government has decided to reserve a 5 percent quota in government secondary schools for children of families injured or martyred in the mass uprising held in July 2024. The Department of Secondary and Higher Education issued an office order in this regard on February 20, which was sent to school and college principals on March 2 (Sunday).
The order states that 5 percent of seats will be reserved for admission in government secondary schools for the sons and daughters of freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters and family members of those injured or martyred in the July 2024 mass uprising.
In addition, a certified copy of the relevant certificate or gazette must be attached to the admission application form, and the original copy must be presented at the time of admission.
The admission process must be completed by verifying the freedom fighter certificate from the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the gazette of the martyrs of the July 2024 mass uprising.
The order further states that if no applicants are found as per the prescribed quota, admission will be made from the merit list so that no seats remain vacant.
This is an important step, taken to show respect to freedom fighters and martyred family members and to increase educational opportunities for their children.
