Baganchara Representative:
A young man named Asaduzzaman Asad has been accused of defrauding various people by making identity cards and organizing acquaintance meetings for a long time, posing as the president of the Jessore West branch of an international human rights and legal aid organization.
Later, to make the organization credible to the people, the organization organized an introduction, exchange of views and oath-taking ceremony on Saturday (February 15) morning at the Bagh Anchra High School ground in Sharsha, Jessore. A total of 23 people, including Jessore District Police Superintendent, Sharsha Executive Officer, former BNP Office Secretary Mofiqul Hasan Tripti, Jessore District BNP member Sabich Advocate Saberul Haque Sabu, Sharsha Thana BNP President Abul Hasan Zahir, General Secretary Naruzzaman Liton, officers-in-charge of Sharsha, Jhikargachha and Chaugachha police stations, were invited as guests.
However, no other invited guests were seen attending the event except a Jamaat leader. Meanwhile, officials of Sharsha Upazila Social Service Office and Human Rights Jessore said that this is a fake organization. They have no information about them.
According to information, Asaduzzaman Asad is the son of the late Nesar Uddin, the former president of Bagh Anchra Union Ulama League. He had been living abroad for a long time. He had come to the country two years ago and was living an unemployed life. Suddenly, for the past few months, an unregistered online portal named Ajker Gebeng Sangbad has been embezzling money of 3 to 5 thousand taka per person by hanging a newspaper card around his neck and carrying a BOOM, pretending to be a journalist and human rights activist, in the name of making identity cards for several people as human rights activists. On Saturday, the matter came to the attention of journalists when an opinion exchange meeting was organized by an international human rights and legal aid organization with drums playing at the Bagh Anchra High School ground in the upazila. Later, when they asked about the authenticity of the organization in various offices, everyone informed them that it was a hoax.
Sharsha Upazila BNP President Abul Hasan Zahir and General Secretary Noruzzaman Liton said they had received the invitation. However, they did not come as they did not get good information about the organization and local BNP leaders did not inform them of anything.
When asked why he did not come, Sharsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rabiul Islam said he was busy with government work. He was currently making inquiries about the organization and requested journalists to make inquiries as well.
Accused Asad said, "The rules of our organization are that to become a member, you have to pay a minimum of 1,000 to 2,000 taka." When asked how many people he had taken this money from, he quickly hung up the call.
Binoy Krishna Mallick, the acting director of Human Rights in Jessore, said that people from some of these fake organizations are misleading service seekers and extorting money by making false promises in the name of human rights. They extort money in the name of solving any problem, including family and land-related problems. Along with lobbying the administration, they are also doing ID card business. Some are using the organization's monogram and flag to claim state privileges. In some cases, government field administration officials, including the police, are being confused by thinking that they are government institutions.
Sharsha Upazila Social Service Officer Touhid Milon said that he and his office do not have any information about this human rights organization. He said that they are looking into the matter.
In this regard, Sharsha Upazila Executive Officer Kazi Nazib Hasan said, "I have informed about the organization. However, if the organization is involved in fraud, legal action will be taken after investigation."
