The oldest Buddhist youth organization of Bangladeshi Buddhists is Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council, established in 1967. In continuation of that, the Babouyup-Sylhet region was established in 2020. On Friday, February 21, Amar Ekushey International Mother Language Day, the Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council paid tribute to the language martyrs of the Sylhet region by laying flowers at the Central Shaheed Minar in Sylhet.
Utfal Barua, the founding president of the Sylhet region of the Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council, who came to pay tribute at the Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar at 8:30 am on Friday, said, "In exchange for the great sacrifice of many unknown martyrs including Salam, Barkat, Rafiq Jabbar, Shafiur, this language, the language we learned to speak, the mother tongue Bangla, acquired through the bloodbath movement, is the language martyrs." The leaders of the Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council, Sylhet region, paid tribute to the martyrs of the language.
On this day of February 21, 1952, Rafiq, Salam, Barkat, Safiur, Jabbar shed their blood to maintain the dignity of the mother tongue, Bengali. In exchange for their fresh blood, the mother tongue, Bengali, was freed from its shackles. Even today, the people of Bengal have not forgotten them. People from all walks of life flocked to the Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to the language martyrs. Various departments of the administration, political, social, cultural and professional organizations paid tribute with flowers.
At 12:01 am, i.e. in the first hour of the immortal Ekushey February, the Shaheed Minar Implementation Council began the tribute-paying program. Before this, the city's Chowhatta Central Shaheed Minar and the surrounding areas became crowded with people. Although there was a stream of people heading towards the Shaheed Minar, there was order. As always, the administration did not have to rush to maintain order. The people stood in lines with flowers in their hands and paid tribute one by one.
