Former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sylhet District Police of Sylhet Range, Abdul Mannan, has been sent to jail. He was sent to Sylhet Central Jail on the orders of Magistrate Muntasir Hasan of Golapganj Court on Sunday afternoon.
Court Registrar Jamshed Alam confirmed the matter to the media. Abdul Mannan is an accused in a case filed in connection with the murder case during the July movement in Golapganj, Sylhet. He was shown arrested in that case. Prior to this, Abdul Mannan was presented in court amidst tight security.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police arrested Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan, attached to Rangpur Range, on Friday.
Later, he was taken to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police. From there, he was brought to Sylhet on Sunday. He was produced in court around 4 pm. Within 15 minutes, he was taken from the court to jail.
Abdul Mannan, an officer of the 25th BCS (Police) cadre, joined as the Superintendent of Police of Sylhet district on July 10 last year.
He was previously the Superintendent of Police of Comilla, Chittagong Range. He was transferred on August 27, 48 days after the fall of the Awami League government.
