Adilur Rahman Khan, the interim government's Industries and Public Works Advisor, said that discussions with political parties on reforms will begin tomorrow, Saturday.
He made this statement to reporters after paying tribute to the martyrs of the movement to overthrow the dictatorship at the Shiksha Chattar in front of the High Court gate in the capital on Friday morning, marking the Anti-Dictatorship Day.
The Industries and Public Works Advisor said, "We want to restore the rights of the people of the country. Fascism will no longer be able to rise in Bangladesh under the new system."
Meanwhile, various organizations including BNP, Socialist Student Front, Anti-Autocracy Student Council, leaders and activists of the 82-90 Student Movement, Revolutionary Student Alliance, DUCSU All-Party Student Unity of 90, Pahari Student Front paid tribute to the martyrs of the movement to overthrow the dictatorship.
Incidentally, the education policy of the then Hussain Muhammad Ershad government of Bangladesh was formulated. In view of this, on February 14, 1983, students protested against that education policy and took up a program to submit a memorandum to the Bangladesh Secretariat. During the protest rally, the police opened fire. Zafar, Joynal, Deepali, Mozammel, Ayub and Kanchan were killed in the firing. Many others were injured. In the face of that movement of the students and the public at that time, that education policy had to be canceled. That is why February 14 is observed as the Anti-Dictatorship Day.
Last Wednesday (February 12), the National Consensus Commission was formed under the leadership of the interim government's chief advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. It is chaired by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the head of the Constitutional Reform Commission, Professor Ali Riaz, has been appointed as the vice-chairman.
