The Awami League office in Shahjadpur, Sirajganj was demolished with a bomb, while the mural and portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were also vandalized.
The office was demolished with a blast machine at Dwariapur Bazar in the upazila on Friday (February 7) midnight. Shahzadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Aslam Ali said that the upazila Awami League office was demolished during the anti-discrimination student movement in July-August. Some remaining parts were also demolished at midnight.
Earlier, on Thursday (February 6) night, an angry mob vandalized, looted and set fire to the house of Hasibur Rahman Swapan, a former Awami League MP from Sirajganj-6 (Shahzadpur) constituency and Industries Minister, in the rehabilitation area of Sadar Upazila.
