Qatar BNP General Secretary Shariful Haque Saju has inquired about the family of Jubo Dal leader Noman Hossain, who was killed in a large-scale robbery in Moulvibazar over demands for money owed to him.
He first visited Noman's grave with local BNP leaders and activists and later met his family and expressed his condolences. At that time, he demanded exemplary punishment for Noman's killers. Besides, he handed over gifts to the family on behalf of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
Saju was accompanied by; Barolekha Upazila BNP Senior Joint Convener Nachib Ali, former advisor Atiqur Rahman Atiq, Upazila Jubo Dal Senior Joint Convener Abdul Qadir Palash, Swechchhasebak Dal Convener Raihan Mujib, as well as leaders and activists from various levels of BNP, Yubodal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal.
Incidentally, on the evening of January 18, the accused stabbed Jubo Dal leader Noman and fled after demanding Tk 20,000 in Badda Bazar of the upazila. He was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College in a seriously injured condition, where he died.
Lechu Mia, the father of the deceased Noman, filed a murder case with Barolekha Police Station on January 20, accusing Marjan Ahmed, Raihan Ahmed Rehan, Abed Ahmed, Naeem Ahmed and Zakir Ahmed among others. The police have already arrested the two main accused and sent them to jail.
Noman's family and BNP leaders have demanded a speedy trial. Qatari BNP leader Shariful Haque Saju said, "This is a brutal murder. We want the culprits to be brought to justice quickly and justice to be ensured."
