Md. Shahabuddin paid tribute to the nation by laying flowers at the National Shaheed Minar in memory of language martyrs on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.
He laid flowers at the Shaheed Minar at 12:02 in the first hour of Friday (February 21). After laying flowers, he left the Shaheed Minar at 12:03.
Earlier, at 11:59 pm, President Md. Shahabuddin entered the Shaheed Minar. At that time, the President was welcomed by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan and Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed.
Earlier, an organization called the Revolutionary Students' Council protested in front of the Raju statue, demanding the removal of President Shahabuddin and the banning of the Chhatra League. At 11:20 pm, they started a procession from TSC towards Shaheed Mina. They were initially stopped at TSC but were later allowed to proceed.
Later, they were seen near the Shaheed Minar and chanting various slogans demanding the resignation of the President.
