The new student organization has been named 'Bangladesh Democratic Students' Union'. The name was announced at a press conference at the Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University (DU) on Wednesday.
Abu Baker Majumder, former coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, has been appointed as the convener of the organization's central committee, and Zahid Ahsan has been appointed as the member secretary.
Touhid Mohammad Siam has been appointed as the senior joint convener of the convening committee. Rifat Rashid has been appointed as the senior member secretary, Tahmid Al Muddassir Chowdhury as the chief organizer, and Ashrefah Khatun as the spokesperson of the organization.
Meanwhile, students of private universities protested at Madhur Canteen before the announcement of the new student organization. The announcement of the new student organization was made after their protest.
