The new party of the anti-discrimination student movement will be announced on February 28. The new political party will debut at 3 pm on Manik Mia Avenue adjacent to the National Parliament Building. Sarjis Alam gave this information at a press conference on Monday (February 24) evening.
Meanwhile, there are various discussions and criticisms surrounding this new party. In particular, there are rumors about who will be in the top positions of the party. It is learned that who will be in the top 6 positions of the new political party, which is going to be launched at the initiative of the National Citizens' Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, is pretty much final. Two new positions are also being created in the party's organizational structure on the basis of 'compromise'. In addition to the convener, member secretary, spokesperson and chief organizer, it has been decided to keep two positions named senior joint convener and senior joint member secretary.
The student leaders who were at the forefront of the July uprising are now taking up the top positions in the new political party. From the beginning, the National Citizens Committee and the leaders of the Student Movement Against Discrimination had no objection to the nomination of Nahid Islam as the convener of this party. There was a disagreement over who would be the member secretary. Based on the agreement, Akhtar Hossain's name is largely final for this position. He is now the member secretary of the National Citizens Committee.
Advisor Nahid Islam may resign from the interim government at any time to take over as the convener of the new party. Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah may be seen as the party's main organizer and spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the name of Ali Ahsan Jonayed (former president of the Dhaka University branch of the Shibir) is being considered for the post of senior joint convener based on an agreement with former leaders of Chhatra Shibir who are in the National Citizens Committee.
On the other hand, Nasiruddin Patwari, the current convener of the National Citizens Committee, may become the party's senior joint member secretary. These issues have been confirmed after talking to three leaders of the National Citizens Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement who are joining the new party.
Apart from the top six positions in the party, National Citizens Committee spokesperson Samantha Sharmin, joint conveners Sarwar Tushar, Tasnim Zara and Ariful Islam Adeeb, joint member secretaries Anik Roy, Mahbub Alam and Alik Mr. may get important positions in the new party.
Apart from this, Abdul Hannan Masud, the main organizer of the anti-discrimination student movement, may also be seen in an important position in the party.
