The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a raid at the residence of former Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Defence Intelligence (DGFI) Lieutenant General Saiful Alam. Bundles of money were recovered during the raid.
ACC Director General (Prevention) Md. Akhter Hossain confirmed the matter to the media on Sunday (March 2) afternoon.
He said that the ACC seized Tk 2.45 crore in a raid at the cantonment residence of former DGFI Director General Saiful Alam.
The army sent Md. Saiful Alam on compulsory retirement on September 11 last year. Lieutenant General Md. Saiful Alam was assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the student uprising in the country.
On September 4, an order was issued to freeze the bank accounts of Lieutenant General Md. Saiful Alam and his wife Lubna Afroz.
At the same time, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), the financial intelligence unit of the central bank, ordered the freezing of the bank accounts of their children and the companies they own.
