Shahiduzzaman Shimul, Satkhira:
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has held a protest march and rally in Satkhira demanding the release of Jamaat Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam and the return of the party's registration.
On Monday afternoon, protest marches simultaneously left the city's four entrances - Khulna Road intersection, Amtala, Tufan Company intersection, and the Orphanage intersection adjacent to Alia Madrasa - and joined the rally at Satkhira Government College grounds.

The protest rally attracted lakhs of people. The rally was chaired by District Jamaat Ameer Vice President Shahidul Islam Mukul, and Muhaddis Abdul Khalek, Central Organizing Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Khulna Regional Director, delivered the speech as the chief guest.
District Jamaat Secretary Azizur Rahman delivered the special guest speech.
Speaking as the chief guest, Jamaat's Central Organizing Secretary Muhaddis Abdul Khaliq said that the organization's Assistant Secretary General ATM Azharul Islam has been detained in prison for more than 13 years. He is a defendant sentenced to death for crimes against humanity allegedly committed by Sheikh Hasina. Jamaat does not accept this controversial trial. Therefore, keeping ATM Azharul Islam in prison is nothing but extreme oppression and injustice against him. Finally, he called for the party's registration to be returned to protect Jamaat's democratic rights.###
