Pirejpur Correspondent:
The organization has held a rally and protest march in Pirojpur demanding the immediate release of imprisoned central leader ATM Azharul Islam.
The rally was held at the central Shaheed Minar square in Pirojpur city on Tuesday afternoon. After the rally, a protest procession took out from there and ended in front of the Sayeedi Foundation adjacent to the Pirojpur bus stand.
Jamaat-nominated candidate Masud Sayedee from Pirojpur-1 constituency, along with district and upazila Jamaat leaders, delivered speeches at the central Shaheed Minar premises under the chairmanship of District Jamaat Ameer Principal Tafazzal Hossain Farid. The pre-protest rally was moderated by District Jamaat Secretary Md. Zahirul Haque.
In his speech, Masud Sayedee said that the revolution was organized on August 5th with the aim of forming a non-discriminatory state. But the conviction with which Bangladesh gained independence has been wasted. Azharul has not been released yet. He also said that during the Awami regime, a farcical commission was formed under the leadership of Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Jamaat leaders and activists were unjustly killed and Azharul Islam was kept in jail.
Masud Sayedee alleged that Azharul's trial verdict was given through fake witnesses. Therefore, demanding that all those involved in this trial process be brought to justice, he said, "We are testing our patience, but don't let us lose our patience."
Warning the current government, Masud Sayedee said that Jamaat leaders and activists will not return home until Azharul Islam is released. Along with Azharul Islam's release, Masud Sayedee demanded the return of Jamaat's registration. Other speakers at the rally demanded the release of the party's central leader Azharul Islam, the return of Jamaat's registration and symbol. Otherwise, the speakers warned that strict programs would be announced on the streets.
