Veteran politician and BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan referred to Maulana Bhashani as the architect of our great independence. He said, "The oppressed people's leader Maulana Bhashani is a visionary politician. In 1957, he said 'Assalamu Alaikum' to the Pakistanis at the Kagmari Conference and signaled separation from them, and in that continuity, the great liberation war and our glorious independence were achieved in 1971."
Maulana Bhashani's message of preserving the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh, economic liberation of the people of the country, establishment of the rule of law and national unity is an exemplary example for us. He made the above remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by Bhashani Anusari Parishad on the occasion of Kagmari Conference Day at the Sagar-Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity on Sunday, February 16 at 11 am.
Chaired by freedom fighter Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, convener of Bhashani Anusari Parishad and moderated by member secretary Dr. Abu Yusuf Selim, the meeting was also addressed by Jatiya Party (Jafar) chairman and former minister Mustafa Jamal Haider, advisor of Bhashani Anusari Parishad, former vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Professor Dr. Jasimuddin Ahmed, joint conveners of Bhashani Anusari Parishad Babul Biswas, Jamil Ahmed, Nuruzzaman Hira, Ahsan Habib, women leader Sonia Akhter and convener of Youth Parishad Mostafizur Rahman, among others.
The guests, in their speeches, highlighted the important position of Maulana Bhashani in our national history. They said, Maulana Bhashani did not do power politics, he spent his life in agitating and struggling for the liberation of the working people. If we follow Maulana Bhashani's ideals in our state governance and governance system, the path to establishing the rule of law will be smooth.
In his speech, freedom fighter Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, convener of Bhashani Anusari Parishad, said, "Maulana Bhashani is the undisputed leader of our great struggle for independence and liberation. The previous fascist government distorted history by erasing the contributions of Maulana Bhashani."
The nation will benefit if Maulana Bhashani's life and work are properly presented to the new generation. Addressing the current interim government, he said, "The holy month of Ramadan is ahead. If the prices of commodities are not strictly controlled, the common people will face indescribable misery. If the suffering of the common people is not alleviated, through whose direct participation we have become free from fascism." He strongly demanded that a specific date for the national election be given soon to implement that popular aspiration.
Thank you-
Mohammad Ishmail
