Tahsina Rushdir Luna, advisor to BNP chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and wife of former Sylhet-2 MP M Ilias Ali, said, "During the previous fascist Awami League government, journalists at the national and local levels could not write freely. You will always be on the side of the people and present accurate information through your writings. We are looking forward to building a new Bangladesh. We want the truth to be revealed and we should be free from the propaganda of lies."
When M. Elias Ali went missing, journalists supported us in very difficult circumstances, taking great risks. When our homes were attacked, we did not get support from the police and administration. We could not file a case at that time.
Journalists helped us a lot in this difficult time. We hope that there will be a fair election in the future and that the people of this area will elect a worthy candidate for Sylhet-2 (Bishwanath-Osmaninagar) constituency. We, as BNP, expect to form a humane and corruption-free country with everyone in this region. BNP is not in favor of injustice, we will hand over those who do injustice to the law. We will never advocate for anyone on behalf of criminals. After so many days, we have got the opportunity to speak freely, so that everyone can speak the truth. We will never apply any pressure.
He made the above remarks while interacting with journalists at the Osmaninagar Upazila Press Club on Tuesday around 11 am. He then interacted with BNP leaders at the Goalabazar Union Parishad and distributed pamphlets among the local people in Goalabazar with a 31-point demand for repairing the state structure.
