BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas made the remarks at an iftar mahfil held at the capital's Ladies Club on Sunday. He said, "A group of people from outside and inside the country are trying to create a distance between the BNP and the scholars and ulama."
He further said, "This rift is not between the BNP and the scholars and ulama, but rather, this rift will create a rift in the country, and through that rift, foreign forces can enter, which can disrupt the country's security and order."
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman joined the event online as the chief guest. BNP leaders jointly organized an Iftar Mahfil at the event, in which scholars and students of Orphan Madrasas participated.
Meanwhile, the BNP has claimed that some parties inside and outside the country are involved in various conspiracies against the BNP to weaken its political position. Mirza Abbas also said, "We have always been together with the scholars and ulama and will be together in the future."
On the other hand, a new political party named 'National Citizens Party' (NCP) was launched last Friday. The party's convener, Md. Nahid Islam, said that their goal is to establish a 'Second Republic' in the country, so that the rights and democracy of the people of the country are further consolidated.
