Sadrul Law:
BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has urged the interim government's chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to announce the roadmap for the national elections by this March. Otherwise, he warned that the political parties will sit down and decide.
Salahuddin Ahmed made these remarks at a discussion titled "The Sacrifice and Leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman in the Struggle for the Restoration of Democracy" and the unveiling of the book "The Great Leader Khaleda Zia" at the Diploma Engineers Institution in the capital on Saturday (March 1) afternoon.
Addressing the chief advisor, the BNP leader said, "You are still talking nonsense. I will urge you, Honorable Chief Advisor, that you no longer need to talk nonsense."
You can give an interview to a foreign news agency that we are trying to hold elections by December. Why can't you hold a press conference in the country and announce the roadmap? You can hold a press conference and say that I am announcing the roadmap to hold elections by this date. If you have good intentions.
Meanwhile, at the launch ceremony of a new political party called the National Citizens Party (NCP), the party's member secretary Akhtar Hossain demanded elections to the Constituent Assembly to reform the constitution.
Welcoming the new group of students, Salahuddin Ahmed also commented on the issue of the Constituent Assembly and local elections and the second independence as a conspiracy to prolong the democratic process.
Regarding the demand for Constituent Assembly elections, Salahuddin said, "Why is a Constituent Assembly needed even though there is a constitution?" He believes that those who are raising these questions either do not understand or are involved in a deep conspiracy.
Demanding a ban on the Awami League, he said that if there had been a caretaker government, the path for the mass uprising of 24 would not have been paved. BNP knew that Sheikh Hasina would abolish the caretaker government and come to power, leading to a dictatorship.
BNP knew that Awami League would fall, but it was waiting to see when it would happen.
He said, "If the Awami League gets a chance to enter politics in this country again, it will be a failure of the political parties. It will not be possible to deal with the Awami League only with the police, they will have to be expelled in a coordinated manner."
It has been decided on August 5 that the Awami League will not be able to do politics in this country, this verdict was given by the people on August 5.
