Sadrul Law:
Nurul Haque Nur, president of a faction of the People's Rights Council, has called for the resignation of the student representatives of the National Citizens Party (NCP) representing the government, including two advisors (Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam), to ensure the impartiality of the current interim government.
He made the call at an emergency press conference at the central office of the People's Rights Council at the Vijaynagar Al Raji Complex on Saturday (March 1).
Noor said that although the July mass uprising of students and the public created a popular desire to form an inclusive national government with the participants of the mass uprising to build the state and the new Bangladesh of the future through the fall of fascism for a decade and a half, it did not happen due to invisible domestic and foreign conspiracies.
A government centered on a specific area has been formed. As a result, the national unity that was created around the mass uprising has now been shattered, creating division. Which was in no way desirable for the nation at this moment.
The top leader of the People's Rights Council said that in this situation, one of the three student advisors in the government has resigned and formed a new political party. As a youth political party, the People's Rights Council always encourages the participation of young people in politics and welcomes new parties.
However, due to the control of the government by a few student leaders centered on the mass uprising, there has been an uneasiness among the people, including government officials and employees, due to the unwanted interference in various parts of the administration. Since the students representing the government from the known faces of the movement have formed a political party, I am calling on all the students representing the government, including the other two student advisors in the government, to maintain the neutrality of the government and to retain the trust of the people and political leaders.
Stating that state and political reforms are necessary to implement the new politics centered on mass uprising and the people's aspirations for building a new Bangladesh, Nur said, "Even if the student leaders continue on the old path despite being in the movement-centered position, it will be a betrayal of the people. Sadly, that is what has been observed in the last 6 months."
Numerous incidents of various unethical activities, including lobbying, recruitment, tender trading, and other activities by well-known student leaders centered on the movement, have already been published in the media, including social media.
He said that even at the launch event of the new party, issues such as participation in the program in Dhaka in the notice of the District Commissioner were seen, and pressure was exerted on the owners' association and transport related parties to supply cars. Which is completely immoral and unacceptable.
The anti-discrimination movement or the July Uprising was not organized by any single organization or leader. It was organized through the timely steps of political leaders and the spontaneous and collective efforts of students and the public.
Therefore, I urge everyone not to create any untrue and misleading narrative about the July Uprising, similar to the Awami League's statement of the Liberation War spirit.
Reorganization of the Advisory Council with the participants of the mass uprising based on national consensus. Proper treatment and rehabilitation of the injured and compensation and rehabilitation of the families of the martyrs. Taking appropriate steps to prosecute the genocide and ban the Awami League.
Present at the event were members of the People's Rights Council's Higher Council, Faruk Hasan, Shakil Uzzaman, Shahidul Islam Fahim, Fatima Tasnim, Jasim Uddin Akash, Mahfuzur Rahman Khan and others.
