BNP leader Habib Un Nabi Sohel, in a speech at an event, reacted to the newly-launched new political party. He said, “The youth’s interest in politics is natural, they can do politics, but they have to be responsible in their statements.”
Sohel said, "A few days ago they said we didn't even have five people to hold our banners. But when did they see our public gathering?"
He mentioned, "When we held processions and meetings and endured government repression, they were associated with the Chhatra League. I left out the big rallies, but they have never seen the amount of people gathered at our divisional rallies in their entire lives."
The BNP leader further said, "They are saying that we didn't even have five workers. But they formed the Chhatra League thinking about the safety of our lives. And we had to do politics even while risking our lives."
He complained, "We did politics despite knowing that we could be disappeared, we could be maimed, our wives and children could lose their loved ones. We fought even in the face of the weapons of Sheikh Hasina's thugs, we did not form the Awami League, but rather confronted Hasina's rule."
