Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "We have gone through a terrible time in the last 15 years. There was a stone in our chest. That stone destroyed our playgrounds. It destroyed our football and cricket fields, sports fields, and cultural fields." Regarding the mass uprising of the students, he said, "Last year, an earthquake occurred at the hands of the students. Through their mass uprising, a new Bangladesh has been created. A new Bangladesh has been created in all areas of our social life and political life. And we have to reshape it."
At that time, former player of Bangladesh national football team and sports secretary of the team's central committee Aminul Haque, vice-chairman of Bangladesh Football Federation and rural and cooperative affairs secretary of the central committee Farhad Hossain Azad, central committee member and Thakurgaon district BNP general secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, former player of Bangladesh national football team Syed Rumman bin Wali Sabbir, district and upazila leaders and sports lovers were present. Before the inauguration, a pleasant cultural program was organized by local artists. 8 districts of Rangpur division will compete in the tournament in phases. The final match of the tournament will be held on February 27 this month.
