Mahbubur Rahman, vice-president of Daulatpur Thana Jubo Dal, has been expelled following a clash between Chhatra Dal leaders and activists at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) students.
A notice signed by Nurul Islam Sohel, the office secretary of the Central Jubo Dal, said last night that Mahbubur Rahman, vice-president of Daulatpur Thana Jubo Dal, has been expelled from the organization for allegedly engaging in activities that violate party discipline.
The notice mentioned that the party will not take responsibility for any misdeeds of the expelled leaders and instructions have been given to all levels of the Jubo Dal leaders and activists not to have organizational relations with them. Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna and General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan have already implemented this decision.
On the other hand, in the context of the demand to ban student politics in KUET, clashes and chases broke out between Chhatra Dal and general students on Tuesday. More than a hundred students were injured in the hour-long clash, most of whom were injured by sharp weapons. During the clash, several outsiders were seen taking a stand against the students with sharp weapons. Among them, one of them, wearing a t-shirt and a towel wrapped around his face, was confirmed by locals as Jubo Dal leader Mahbubur Rahman.
However, Khulna Metropolitan Jubo Dal member secretary Rabiul Islam Rubel said, 'There are some factual errors in the center's notification. Mahbub is not currently holding any responsible position in Jubo Dal. It was his personal decision to take up residence in the Kuet area, there was no organizational issue there.'
A leader of Daulatpur police station BNP said that Mahbub is the former vice-president of Jubo Dal. He currently does not hold any post.
