Crime reporter:
Anjuzara Begum (47), a widow from Shyampur Shahapara village of Chandanpat Union in Rangpur Sadar Upazila, has been accused of blocking the road of her brother-in-law's sons. Anjuzara said that a complaint is being filed with the Rangpur Sadar Kotwali Police Station in this regard.
It is known from the source of the statement that on February 10, 2005, at approximately 12:00 PM, on the orders of Md. Majnu Mia (50), son of the deceased Abdul Kader, Md. Rabiul Islam (41), son of the deceased Abdul Halim, and Md. Hafizar Rahman and Md. Mahubar Rahman, son of the deceased Abdul Kader, of the same village, blocked the road of Anjuara, wife of the deceased uncle Abdul Kader, and raised a ghar. When they asked why they were blocking the road, they abused Hazrat Ali, son of the deceased Abdul Kader, in foul language and started beating him with stones. When Anjuara came forward, she also beat him and removed 1.5 annas worth 13,000 taka from Majnu Mia's wife, Md. Eleza Begum (42), and Md. Mahubar Rahman's wife, Md. Arzu Begum (30). And upon hearing their screams, locals came and rescued them and took them to a local doctor.
Mosha: Anjuzara Begum said, "My brother-in-law's sons have blocked the only road to my house. When I asked why, they beat my son. When I went to save my son, they beat me too and removed an earring worth 1.5 annas worth 13,000 taka from my right ear." She also said, "I am under threat of death. They can do great harm to me and my son at any time." I have filed a complaint with Haridevpur (Rangpur Sadar Kotwali) police station in this incident. I am demanding fair justice from the police superintendent, the government and the administration.
Olive Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Rangpur Sadar Kotwali Police Station, said, "We have received the complaint. My officers went to the scene and investigated. I will now take legal action."
