Construction materials left on the road for over a month have blocked access to the Maternal and Child Welfare Center (Matrisadan) in Gaibandha city. As a result, pregnant women and their relatives have been suffering immensely. In addition, students of Gaibandha Government Girls High School are also suffering.
Stones and other constructions have been left on the road in front of the Government Girls High School in Madhyapara of Gaibandha city for a long month. There are several coaching centers and educational institutions in the area. However, the most suffering are the pregnant women and their relatives who come to the Matri Sadan for treatment. They have to travel one to two kilometers to reach the Matri Sadan. Their relatives are facing even more terrible problems with the patients suffering from labor pain. The affected people are constantly expressing their anger about this. But the concerned authorities including the municipality remain silent.
However, the municipality administrator, A.K. M. Hedayetul Islam, said, "I have seen it. People are suffering because stones are being left on the road. However, the contractor will remove the construction materials within two days."
