International Mother Language Day was celebrated with due dignity through patriotic songs and poetry recitations, and discussion meetings.

The event, held at around 6 pm on Thursday in the main hall of the Bangladesh Center, was presided over by the center's vice-chairman Gulnehar Khan and conducted by me.
The program was divided into two parts; the first part was a discussion session and the second part was poetry recitation and patriotic songs.
The program began with the performance of the national anthem, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the language martyrs.
The discussion meeting was addressed by; Fundraising Convener Mainul Haque, Permanent Member Zakir Hossain, Joint General Secretary Aminul Haque Zilu, Vice-Chairman Mamun Rashid, Life Member MA Matin, Joint Treasurer Shad Chowdhury, Councilor Mahfuz Faruk, Permanent Members Shahnur Khan, Shamsul Islam Selim, Writer and Journalist Dr. Azizul Ambia and Tanzila Zaman.
The speakers said, "We have received recognition for the Bengali language in return for the sacrifices of language martyrs. The practice of the Bengali language must be spread worldwide and the dignity of the language can never be compromised."
Poetry recitation and musical performances were held under the direction of Fakhrul Ambia, convener of the Cultural Subcommittee.
Mahfuza Talukder, Faiz Noor, Azam Faruk, Gulnehar Khan, Najma Kabir, Mujibul Haque Moni, Misbah Jamal and Snigdha Misty participated in the poetry recitation and Pritam and Shefali performed the music.
At the end of the program, members of the center and invited guests paid tribute to the language martyrs by placing flowers at the center's Shaheed Minar.
The spontaneous presence of British Bengalis made the entire event lively and memorable.
