Police have arrested Habibur Rahman Lavlu (54), chairman of Gotti Union Parishad in Saltha Upazila of Faridpur. He was arrested from the Gotti Union Parishad area around 1 pm on Tuesday (February 11). Lavlu is the son of the deceased Lal Mamud Matubbar of Lakshandia village in the union.
According to police sources, Habibur Rahman Lavlu has an arrest warrant against him in a case of attacking and vandalizing the convoy of Faridpur Divisional BNP Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid Islam Rinku in 2024. Habibur Rahman Lavlu is a supporter of the Awami League. He does not hold any party positions.
Saltha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ataur Rahman said, Lavlu Chairman, the accused with a warrant in a case under the Speedy Trial Act, has been arrested. There are several cases against him, including a case under the Speedy Trial Act. Legal action is under process in this regard.
