The two sons of Khairul Sardar and Hasina Begum, Zafar Sardar (35) and Bazlur Rahman Sardar (30), were sent abroad by brokers. They sent their sons abroad in the hope of a better life, but they were the victims of a terrible fraud.
The incident of Zafar Sardar:
Zafar Sardar left home for Cyprus on August 17, 2023 through a recruiting agency called “Dream Home Travels”. His family paid about 8 lakh taka to brokers, of which 4 lakh taka was borrowed from an NGO. But he was taken to Russia without getting a visa for Cyprus. From there, he was sent to Russia via Dubai, Libya and Turkey.
After arriving in Russia, Zafar, along with nine Bangladeshis, was forcibly sent to fight in the war in Ukraine. One of them was killed and another was shot. Zafar sent a message to his family, saying, “Take me back at any cost.” His wife, Khadija Akhter, said that Zafar was trained by the Russian army for war, and was groomed and groomed into small armies.
The incident of Bazlur Rahman Sardar:
Bazlur Rahman Sardar, after working in Malaysia for a few days, was detained due to a problem with his documents. He was arrested by the police and is currently in a Malaysian prison. According to his wife, he has been assured of being sent back to the country within a few days.
Khairul Sardar and Hasina Begum are going through a difficult time in their lives. Their family survives on a meager income from their tea shop, but their financial situation has worsened after their two sons got into trouble. They sold their cattle and goats and took loans to send their sons abroad, but now they have no trace of them. Khairul Sardar says, “I cannot support my family by selling tea. My son is stuck in two countries.”
Khairul Sardar was now preparing to move to his relatives' house with his two daughters-in-law and three grandchildren, because he was unable to meet the family's demands. He said, "I have been supporting my family by selling poultry, cows and goats, but now it is no longer possible."
This is a difficult time for the families of Jafar and Bazlur and their mother. Amidst their pain and anxiety, they are praying and trying to get help from various sources.
