Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Student Movement Against Discrimination, gave good news for expatriates regarding the reduction in the price of air tickets to Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. She gave this good news in a post on her verified Facebook ID on Thursday evening (February 13).
His post is reproduced below in full:
1. The fare has been reduced from around 58,000 taka (480 US dollars) to around 43,500 taka (360 US dollars) on the Dhaka-Jeddah, Dhaka-Riyadh, Dhaka-Dammam, Dhaka-Madinah routes. That is, the fare has been reduced by around 14,500 taka.
2. The fare has been reduced from around 21,000 taka (175 USD) to around 18,000 taka (150 USD) on the Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur route. That is, the fare has been reduced by around 3,000 taka.
“Biman Bangladesh Airlines is offering special fare discounts for respected expatriate workers traveling to Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. This facility, called ‘Worker Fair’, has been launched from February 10, 2025 and will be applicable till June 30, 2025. This fare will be applicable only for new worker visas and single journey tickets. The current basic fare (excluding taxes) on various routes from Dhaka to Saudi Arabia is 360 USD, which was previously 480 USD on the Dhaka-Jeddah route, 400 USD on the Dhaka-Riyadh route, 430 USD on the Dhaka-Madinah route and 400 USD on the Dhaka-Dammam route. In addition, the current fare on the Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur route is 150 USD, which was previously 175 USD.
To avail this benefit called 'Worker Fair', the esteemed passengers must have BMET clearance card or BMET attested visa. It is worth mentioning here that Umrah, family visit or residence visa holders will not get this special discount.
This fare will be applicable for ticket purchases from any Biman Bangladesh Airlines sales center or any travel agency designated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines.”
