MuAn incident of encroaching Muslim land and constructing a temple has occurred in Rishi Para, Nayanagar village, Sirajdikhan upazila, Nsiganj.
On-site inspection revealed that several temples, puja pavilions and other structures have been built illegally under the leadership of Jatindra Das of both villages on 24-hundred-year-old land owned by Md. Shahidul Islam Chanchal Gang of Madhupur village in the upazila. However, the amount of land recorded in the name of the temple is two percent. When Jatindra Das was asked about this, he could not show any documents.
Md. Shahidul Islam Chanchal Gong has been pursuing a case for a long time to recover the said land. Despite the ban on the land, the temple expansion work is being carried out forcibly and purposefully under the leadership of Jatindra Das, without any regard for any law.
Rakib Ahmed, son of the land owner Md. Shahidul Islam, informed the matter to Sirajdikhan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mr. Shahana Akhter. Taking cognizance of the matter, Mr. Shahana Akhter assigned Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mr. Md. Touhidul Islam Bari to investigate the matter on the ground. Today, February 11 at 1 pm, Mr. Md. Touhidul Islam visited Bari along with the Kanungo and the surveyor.
After receiving the truth of the incident from the statements of the locals, he asked both parties to be present at the Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office on Tuesday, February 18, along with the land documents. At that time, he asked the Hindu community to continue the puja ceremony in the presence of the locals and advised both parties not to get involved in the dispute. However, he ordered the work of other under-construction facilities to be stopped.
Present at the event were Rajanagar Union Chairman Mr. Md. Mujibur Rahman, Rajanagar Union Jamaat-e-Islami President Mr. Eng. M. S. Rana and Abu Ammar Abdullah, along with other prominent figures from the area.
