The holy Ganges bath of the followers of traditional religion was held with great enthusiasm in Madhukhali, Faridpur. On Wednesday (February 12) morning, the holy Ganges bath was held in the Kumar river at Kaliganga in Raipur union of Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur. Since the morning, devotees of traditional religion from different areas of the district gathered on the banks of the Kaliganga Kumar river in Raipur to take part in the Ganges bath. By bathing in the holy water of the river, the devotees prayed for the well-being of their families as well as for the country and the nation. Present at the time were Raipur UP Chairman Zakir Hossain Mia, District Chhatra Dal Vice President Mahabbat Hayat Mia, UP member of Raipur Union No. 8 Abdur Razzak, Upazila Jubo Dal Joint Convener Faridul Islam, Upazila Sechchhasebak Dal Joint Convener Habibur Rahman Tara and others.
At this time, priest Anil Sadhu said, it is said in the scriptures that the sins of the physical body are washed away through this Ganga bath. Where devotees gather with devotion, God resides. Pilgrim Bishwajit Biswas said, "Through the Ganga bath, I have sought good for myself and my family and prayed to God for forgiveness of sins by bathing in the holy water of the Kumar River. I have also prayed that He may bless everyone." Meanwhile, a folk fair is being held on the banks of the Kumar River centered around the traditional Ganga bath. The fair features Nagardola, various Bahari food items, Muri-Chira, and Bahari shops selling cosmetics.
Madhukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Nuruzzaman said that police are deployed at the scene and will take action if any untoward incident occurs.
