In Charbhadrasan Upazila of Faridpur district, speakers raised allegations of harassment in the name of local services on the occasion of National Local Government Day, an initiative of the upazila administration.
On February 25, the National Local Government Day was celebrated at the initiative of the Upazila Administration. A rally led by Upazila Executive Officer Monira Khatun visited the Upazila Parishad area and a discussion meeting was held in the Upazila Mini Auditorium Hall under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer Monira Khatun.
Upazila LGED Upazila Engineer Abdus Sattar highlighted the obstacles faced by the Upazila Engineer in his work, stating that party members are obstructing accountability work. He expressed his opinion that the party parliament should not interfere in improving the quality of service of the Union Parishad to reach the doorstep.
Senior journalist Abdus Salam Molla, president of Bangladesh Press Club Charbhadrasan Upazila branch, highlighted in his speech that the UP chairman in the name of service in the Union Parishad is harassing service seekers by the public. He also raised the issue of nepotism in various government allocations.
He requested for work to improve the quality of service by avoiding nepotism.
It has been seen that there is a lot of deer in the name of service of 4 union parishads in the upazila, including Gazirtek Union Parishad. Relatives have been friendly in providing government VGD cards to the needy. Along with this, there was a delay of 4/5 days in providing citizen certificates and heir certificates, which were provided with the intervention of the Upazila Executive Officer.
World Vision officer Manjurul Islam, Gazirtech UP chairman Yakub Ali, and Charbhadrasan UP chairman Azad Khan spoke at the event.
