Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin said that the respective parties will have to take responsibility for violating their own party's code of conduct.
He said that the consensus commission can take signatures from each party to hold fair elections. Then it will be much easier to hold fair elections.
He made the remarks after a discussion meeting on the 7th National Voters' Day on Sunday (March 2). The CEC released the final voter list for 2024 at the inauguration ceremony. In addition, a colorful rally was taken out in front of the building with Election Commission officials and employees after the inauguration.
At the event, the Chief Election Commissioner said that currently there are 123,732,274 voters in the country. Male voters are 63,361,615. And female voters are 63,779,663. Third gender voters are 994. The voter growth rate is 1.54 percent.
After the discussion meeting, the CEC said that it is possible to achieve an apparent victory by terrorizing the vote. But in the end, it is not good for the party and the country. He also expressed hope that no one will do such a thing. The Chief Election Commissioner also said that the commission is not worried about the contradictory statements of different parties regarding fair and credible elections.
Stating that this time there is an opportunity to create interest among voters to return to the polls, Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah said that the new voter list will be published again by June 30. This is an ongoing process. He said that voters will still be registered after that.
Stating that the commission is preparing for a tough test like the election, EC Chairman Anwarul Islam Sarkar said, "A fair election is not possible for the EC alone, everyone's cooperation is desirable."
