Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refat Ahmed administered the oath to the seven newly appointed members of the PSC.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Supreme Court Judges' Lounge on Sunday (March 2) at 11:30 am. The families of the newly appointed members were also present.
Earlier, on February 18, the President appointed them under the powers granted under Article 138(1) of the Constitution.
The new appointees are Dhaka University Professor Md. Sharif Hossain and Professor Arfina Osman, BCS Health Cadre Officer Professor ATM Feed Uddin, Brigadier General (Retd.) Md. Anwarul Islam, Retired Additional Inspector General of Police Md. Munir Hossain, Bangladesh Agricultural University Professor Shahnaz Sarkar and Retired Foreign Cadre Officer Shabbir Ahmed Chowdhury.
They shall continue to hold office as members of the Public Service Commission for a period of five years from the date of their assumption of office or until they attain the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier, as per Article 139(1) of the Constitution.
After the appointment of these seven people, the number of members of the PSC now stands at 15. Professor Mobasher Monem is the chairman of the organization.
