About 50 people were injured in a stampede at a celebration event at Bells Park to mark Fortune Barisal's second consecutive title win in the BPL.
On Sunday, 8/2/2025, more than fifty people were injured in a stampede of visitors at the BPL trophy presentation ceremony at Bells Park ground in Barisal to exchange greetings with the players due to the mismanagement of the organizing committee and the lack of adequate security.
More than a lakh people gathered to see the trophy and greet the players. But the level of security required to handle the crowd was largely inadequate. And at one point, angry spectators threw shoes and chairs.
It is worth noting that Fortune Barisal defeated Chittagong for the second consecutive time last Friday night to win the BPL title.
When thousands of spectators broke through the security fence of the trophy presentation ceremony stage, the team players and organizers left the stage safely with the trophy. As a result, the trophy presentation ceremony was canceled.
