Utfal Barua, Sylhet
Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Acting President and former Panel Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Rezaul Hasan Kayes Lodi said, "A healthy mind in a healthy body. Sports are strength, sports are strength. Sports and physical education are a medium through which physical and mental perfection, health and development can be achieved. Unfortunately, the playgrounds in our country's educational institutions are gradually decreasing. Students and parents are losing interest in sports. However, sports play a role in the development of intelligence along with education. Sports help in learning in various ways including physical, mental and social development. The role of physical education and sports in building a healthy nation is undeniable."
He also said, "The way our students are currently addicted to mobile phones, we have a physically and mentally ill nation waiting ahead of us. Students now do not want to go to the field. They now spend more time on screens, which is not desirable in any way. On the one hand, sports and physical education are decreasing in our country, while on the other hand, various physical and mental diseases including diabetes and heart disease are increasing. Therefore, we need to spread the need for sports everywhere."
