Angry students at Noakhali University of Science and Technology (NOUST) broke the nameplate of former Speaker Abdul Malek Ukil Hall at midnight and renamed it "Vijay 24".
On Wednesday (February 5) at 11:30 pm, residential students of the university's Abdul Malek Ukil Hall started a protest in the hall chanting anti-Awami League slogans. At one point, all the general students of the hall spontaneously participated in the protest.
Students chanted various slogans during the protest, including, "The address of tyranny will not be on this campus", "The address of Mujibism will not be in this Bengal", "Friends of tyranny, be careful", etc.
At one stage of the protest, the students broke the nameplate of Malek Ukil Hall and the picture of Abdul Malek Ukil engraved on the tiles. Then, they lit a fire in front of Malek Ukil Hall and started shouting various slogans. Later, when the protest march went towards Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, they covered the wall with Bangabandhu's picture with paint.
A student participating in the protest said, "The Awami League and its allies, who martyred my brother in the 24th movement, will have no place in this country and on this campus. We will leave our campus completely free of allies, God willing. Sheikh Hasina is still conspiring against this country from India. We will stop it with all our might."
