A two-day sports, cultural and prize distribution ceremony was held at Palashdanga Secondary School in Nazirpur, Pirojpur.
The event was held on Wednesday (February 26) afternoon at the school grounds. The event was presided over by the school committee president, Jasmine Ara Munni, and the guest of honor was Dr. ABM Shamim Arafat Rahman, vice-president of Cocoa Action Society, Pirojpur. Also present were lecturers SM Rezaul Karim, Jasmine Akhter Kumukum, head teacher Saifur Rahman, Md. Delwar Hossain, deputy engineer, Md. Abu Hasan, and others.
All the teachers, students, journalists, political leaders and activists of the school and people from different classes and professions were present. Later, the school authorities presented mementos to the guests and prizes were distributed among the winning students.
Jasmine Ara Munni, daughter of the founder of Palashdanga Secondary School, Alhaj Rafiqul Islam, and president of the school committee, said, "My father founded the school. After my father passed away, my mother used to take care of the school. My family always keeps track of the school. I would tell my local people to treat this institution like your own children. I demand that everyone cooperate in the construction of the school building." In the annual program of the school, students participated in literary, sports and cultural events such as speech, running competition, long jump, biscuit race, rope jump, pot breaking, rain-disk-ball throwing, recitation, dance, patriotism, rural songs, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul songs, and modern singing competitions. At the end of the program, prizes were distributed among the winners.
