A discussion meeting on the night of mid-Sha'ban and preparations for Ramadan has been organized by the Central Jama Masjid Management Committee of Jagannath University. The meeting was held today, Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 11 am in Room No. 1008 of the Department of Political Science.
The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Md. Rezaul Karim, PhD, as the chief guest and the keynote speaker was Professor Dr. Mohammad Manjure Elahi of the National University.
The special guests were Professor Dr. Mustafa Hasan, Chairman of the Department of Social Work, and Professor Dr. Bilal Hossain, Professor of the Department of History.
The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Md. Raish Uddin, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies, and moderated by Professor Dr. Muhammad Tajammul Haque, member of the mosque management committee and proctor of the university.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Rezaul Karim, PhD said, "We must unite by eliminating differences among all and lead the lives of students by upholding the basic principles of Islam."
The main discussant, National University Professor Dr. Mohammad Manjure Elahi, said, "We have to understand the meaning of the Quran and build our life accordingly. We have to read the entire Quran with its meaning at least once in the month of Ramadan. We have to remember that this Ramadan may be the last Ramadan of our life."
Dr. Raish Uddin, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies at JNU, said, “This year, during the month of Ramadan, the Khatme Tarawih will be held at JNU Central Mosque, and the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi will be held at JNU.”
