The Hult Prize is a unique competition for young entrepreneurs from around the world to turn their innovative ideas into reality. It is a platform where university-level students plan new initiatives to bring positive change to society and present possible ways to implement them. Based on a specific theme each year, students develop business ideas and prepare for the international competition. The competition, initiated by the Hult Prize Foundation and supported by the United Nations, is a global phenomenon, providing students with a rare opportunity to develop social business and entrepreneurial skills. The final round of the Hult Prize held at Jagannath University in 2025 has become a shining example, where students presented their creative and effective initiatives.
The Hult Prize Final Round was held at Jagannath University on 25 February 2025. In this, six teams presented their innovative plans in the final stage of the competition. The main goal of each team was to create a sustainable business model in light of the assigned theme, which would be financially profitable and able to bring about positive change in society.
The final round was attended by distinguished guests and judges. The special guest was Professor Dr. Shamsun Nahar, Chairman, Department of Accounting and of Information Systems. The Chief Moderator was Professor Dr. Md. Miraj Hossain, and the Moderator was Professor Dr. Taslima Akhter. The judging panel included Dr. MD Rafiqul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Towhid Hossain Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, Md. Ruhul Amin Mollah, Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting and Information Systems, Taznin Jahan, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, and Dipankar Kumar Saha, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy. The judges evaluated each team's presentation and analyzed their effectiveness, social impact, innovative thinking, and business potential.
The teams participating in the competition identified various problems and presented realistic solutions to them.
Judge Dr. MD Rafiqul Islam said, “The Hult Prize is not just a competition, it is a wonderful opportunity for students to acquire real-life problem-solving skills.” Taznin Jahan mentioned, “Such competitions provide many opportunities for those who want to go abroad for higher education. In addition, those who worked on the organizing team will be able to use their skills and experience in the future.”
At the end of the competition, Dr. Taslima Akhter thanked all the participants, guests, and organizers and officially declared the final round over.
Hult Prize is not just a business competition, it is a huge platform to create future entrepreneurs. Students here acquire business planning as well as research, presentation and teamwork skills. This competition creates an opportunity for participants to showcase themselves on an international platform. It is expected that by organizing such competitions at Jagannath University in the future, students will be given the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills on a larger scale.
