EB Representative:
Bangladesh Chhatra Union Islamic University Parliament has held a torchlight procession to protest the attack on students at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).
The students' union leaders and activists took out the procession from the university's Ziamore at 7 pm on Wednesday (February 19). The procession circled various important roads on the campus and met at the main gate for a rally.
During this time, the leaders and activists kept chanting slogans like 'Break the hideouts of terrorists, crush them; 'Why is my brother injured? The administration wants answers; Why was the attack on Kuwait? The administration wants answers', 'Long live Bangladesh Students Union, long live Bangladesh; We are here and will stay, we will fight for ages; In our arteries, the blood of millions of martyrs; My brother's blood, we will not let it go in vain', etc.
At the rally after the procession, the leaders of the EB Student Union said, "We did not get freedom even after July 24, August 2018, as evidenced by the armed attacks by outsiders on the campus. We want to make it clear that those who conducted these armed activities and those who supported them must be arrested immediately and brought to justice." Bangladesh Student Union Islamic University Parliament strongly condemns and protests this heinous attack.
EB Chhatra Union President Mahmudul Hasan said, "We have come to know through the newspapers that this brutal attack was organized by Chhatra Dal. The politics of weapons on campuses is not just a new beginning. In the past, we have seen the rattling of weapons in the hands of Shibir on campuses across Bangladesh. We have also seen the rattling of weapons in the hands of Chhatra Dal. Chhatra League cannot escape the responsibility of tarnishing student politics in the name of student politics in the past 16 years. KUET has already been declared closed. We do not want to see any campus in Bangladesh closed even for a single day due to the spread of dominance."
