Md. Abu Zubair, joint convener of the Dinajpur district anti-discrimination student movement, gave a strong message against violent political activities in educational institutions. Expressing concern over the recent incidents of Chhatra Dal firing, he said, "Who wants violence, not education?"
He noted, "When a political organization chooses a violent path, the opponent naturally prepares for resistance. If the recent activities of Chhatra Dal provoke Shibir to counter-resist, then educational institutions will become a battlefield."
According to him, this will severely disrupt the education and security of ordinary students and further increase the overall political instability in the country. Therefore, he called on all parties to exercise restraint and resolve the problem through democratic and peaceful means.
He also said, "Everyone has more or less muscle power, so no one should try to show bravery. Otherwise, I hope you understand what the end result could be for you too."
Calling on political parties to behave responsibly to maintain a fair educational environment in universities and colleges, he said, "Education is not a place of conflict, it is a place to build the future generation. Therefore, the politics of weapons must stop."
According to analysts, the administration needs to be strict and political organizations need to play a restrained role to ensure the safety of students. Otherwise, the violence could spread further, which would put the entire education system in crisis.
