Police have arrested three people on charges of kidnapping a student of Bangladesh Maritime University and demanding ransom.
He was rescued from a house in Mirpur 6 in the capital at around 2 am on Tuesday (February 25). The victim student has filed a complaint with the police station in this incident.
The victim's name is Rafiu Haque. He is a third-year student of the Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering Department of Maritime University.
It is known that he used to teach an SSC examinee in Mirpur No. 12 D Block. Yesterday morning, he requested his student Sinha at Mirpur No. 12 to help him go to Chittagong and take him to Jatrabari bus stand. Rafiur dropped her off on a bus to Chittagong and returned home. Later, around 4 pm, while he was in Mirpur No. 10 area, a person named Zahir Alam Milon, who introduced himself as the student Sinha's maternal uncle, called and asked about her whereabouts. After a while, some people came on a motorcycle and forcibly took her away.

At that time, they also called his family for ransom. Realizing the situation, Rafi's family informed the university teachers and classmates, who informed the Pallabi police station about the matter.
Later, Mirpur Model Police Station identified his location with the help of technology, conducted a raid, rescued him late at night, and arrested three kidnappers from the scene.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station confirmed the matter and said that appropriate legal action is being taken against the three people detained with the help of students.
