Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (PUST) Bir Shrestha Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Hall and July 36 Hall jointly organized the Hall Reception and Annual Sports Competition Award Ceremony 2025.
After a long 5 years, this event was held on Saturday (February 22) in a grand manner at the central playground of the Barisal campus. Such an arrangement created a festive atmosphere across the campus. As part of which, the two residential halls were decorated with various lighting decorations. Almost all the roads, including the entrances of the two halls, were decorated with various beautiful lights.
The program began at 6 pm with the reception and seating of the chief guest and special guests under the chairmanship of Professor Mosammat Kulsum Begum, Hall Provost of July 36 Hall. Professor Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman, Hall Provost of Bir Shrestha Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Hall, delivered the welcome speech. Welcoming everyone to the program, he expressed his gratitude to all those who helped in the organization.
The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam, as the chief guest, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan, Student Advisor, Professor Dr. Zillur Rahman, Proctor, Professor Dr. Abul Bashar, as the special guest. Also present were Regent Board Member, Professor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Registrar of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Md. Iktiar Uddin, Dean of the Faculty of ANSVM, Professor Dr. Faisal Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman.
As the next part of the program, the honorable guests presented prizes to the winning students in various sports and the next segment started with a fascinating cultural program. During this, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam, said in his speech, "Even though we are far away, we are always with you." During this, he highlighted the journey of becoming a 'chewed bill' to this huge university. He also assured the students of the university of solving various problems.
Speaking as a special guest, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan said that such an event is spreading a festive and harmonious atmosphere among everyone. He urged everyone to enjoy the banquet and cultural evening.
Also speaking were Student Advisor Professor Dr. Zillur Rahman, Proctor Professor Abul Bashar Khan, Dean of ANSVM Faculty Professor Dr. Faisal Kabir, etc. In the president's speech, Provost of July 36 Hall Professor Kulsum Begum thanked all the guests and students for attending the program. At the same time, she wished the entire event a success.
While expressing his feelings about the event, a student of the 2022-2023 session of Bir Shrestha Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Hall said, "We would like to sincerely thank the hall and the university authorities for hosting such a hall feast for the first time in our university life. After being under the pressure of classes and exams throughout the year, such an event gives us an opportunity to forget all our fatigue and celebrate a festival. We hope that the university authorities will gift us such a festival every year."
The event also concluded with a reception at 11 pm.
