The Faculty of Food and Nutrition Sciences emerged champions after defeating the Faculty of Agriculture in the final of the inter-faculty cricket tournament organized at Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (PUST). The match was held at 1 pm on Saturday (March 1) at the PUST Central Field.
In the final match between the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Science and the Faculty of Agriculture, the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Science won by 8 wickets. Nahiduzzaman Araf, a student of the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Science and captain of the winning team, was adjudged the Man of the Tournament, Man of the Final and the Best Bowler of the Tournament. In addition, Rabiul Islam, a student of the Faculty of Law and Land Administration, was adjudged the Best Batter of the Tournament.
The award ceremony was attended by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Rafiqul Islam. Also present was Student Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Zillur Rahman. Also present was Director of the Department of Physical Education Professor Dr. Abu Yusuf. Also present were the teachers, students and officials of the winning faculty.
The Vice Chancellor said that sports keep everyone free from negative influences including drugs. He expressed his hope that sports will always be a part of the field.
Student Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Zillur Rahman said, "No matter who wins the match, at the end of the day, sports wins."
Professor Dr. Abu Yusuf, Director of the Department of Physical Education, said, "There will be wins and losses in sports, and you should not be upset about it."
The Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences ended the 20-day long inter-faculty cricket tournament with a victory. In which students from seven faculties of the university participated, the Faculty of Agriculture finished the tournament as the runner-up.
