Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Sajid, Butex Representative:
The incessant Israeli attacks on Gaza are causing daily casualties among civilians, including women and children. Recently, the Muslim world has been outraged by America's Palestine policy, in response to which students of Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) have held protests and formed human chains.
Today, Friday (February 14), after Friday prayers, a protest march started from the grounds of G.M.A.G. Osmani Hall at BUTEX at 2:00 pm. The march circled the campus and ended with a short speech at the Osmani Hall premises.
At the rally, students strongly protested Israel's continuous attacks and genocide against Palestinian women and children. They also criticized America's Palestinian policy. They called for international justice through slogans such as "American brokers, beware", "West not East, East East", "Wake up, wake up, Muslim army wake up".
At the rally, the students said, "We have taken to the streets to stop Israel's attacks and genocide on Gaza. We condemn the anti-Palestinian role of the US administration. Our only hope is for Palestine to be recognized as an independent state on the world map."
Asif, a student of the 47th batch, said, "Even after the ceasefire, the Palestinians are returning to their holy land despite knowing their uncertain lives. Sham (present-day Syria, Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon) is very important in Islam, as it is the land of many prophets and the center of important events before the Day of Judgment. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) described it as a blessed region. However, if we, the Muslim world, were inspired by the spirit of faith like them, we would be by their side today. On the Day of Judgment, everyone will have to answer for their responsibilities. Then what will the powerful in the Muslim world answer to Allah? Why are they silent today?"
Rakib, a student of the 46th batch, said, "Although the Western world, including America, talks about human rights, in reality they have direct and indirect support behind major inhumane acts and killings in the world. Muslim countries must unite and build a strong resistance to protect our Muslim brothers in protest of this Palestinian policy."
It is worth noting that the proposal of US President Donald Trump's administration regarding the Gaza Strip has faced widespread criticism in the international community. North Korea has called the proposal "ridiculous" and "robbery". It has been alleged that Trump's plan is destroying even the faint hope of security and peace for the Palestinians.
