'Mayer Dak', an organization of families of victims of enforced disappearances, has filed 100 complaints with the International Crimes Tribunal over the disappearance of 100 people during the Awami League government's tenure from 2009 to 2024.
The organization officially submitted the complaint to the prosecution of the International Crimes Tribunal on Tuesday (February 25) afternoon. Of the 100 missing people, 95 have not yet returned. These include BNP leader Chowdhury Alam and Tejgaon BNP leader Sajedul Islam Sumon. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's security advisor Tarek Siddiqui, former IGP Benazir Ahmed, and 60 former senior officials of RAB, police, DB, and CTTC have been accused in the complaint. This information was confirmed by Shishir Monir, lawyer of the Mother's Call organization, and Sanjida Islam Tuli, coordinator of the organization.
Among others present at the time were Md. Manjur Hossain Isa of the Mother's Call, victim family members Ramiz Uddin Raju, Nasima Akhter, Zahid Khan Shakil, Shahidul Islam, Iqbal Hossain, Kaniz Fatema Rita, Rowshan Ara, Monoram Palak, the missing person Md. Iqbal Hossain Sarkar, Md. Zayedur Rahman and others.
After sending the complaint to the tribunal, the leaders of Mayer Dak exchanged views with the Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Adv. Tajul Islam, at his office.
At this time, he said, no matter how powerful the criminals are, they must be brought to justice. You will cooperate with us by providing all the information you have. We want to assure you that we will bring the criminals to justice at any cost. We will not be sold to money in any way. He also said that you will continue your movement.
