An administration cadre recommended by the BCS has filed 10 harassing and false cases against poor farming families in the area over a previous dispute. He has filed 10 cases in the last 5 years. The local people, including the victim family, have named Moniruzzaman, son of Nuruzzaman of Pashupatipur village in Godagari upazila, as the litigant.
On February 22 (Saturday) at 10 am, the farmer family held a press conference with media personnel at the Khabarbari Hotel in the upazila headquarters. At the conference, Nazmul Hoda's son Ashiqul Islam read a written statement on behalf of the local people.
In his written statement, Ashiqul Islam said, "I am Md. Ashiqul Islam (28), father: Md. Nazmul Hoda, Sang- Pashupatipur, Thana: Godagari, District: Rajshahi. I am a carpenter by profession and my family members are helpless poor farmers. We and Moniruzzaman from the same village are neighbors. Due to a previous dispute, the litigious Moniruzzaman filed various harassing and false cases against me and my family and the helpless poor farmers of the village at various times. Md. Moniruzzaman, father: Md. Nuruzzaman is a BCS recommended administration cadre. He is a litigious person by nature. He was once employed in the Rajshahi court.
On that basis, he filed about 10 cases in the name of me and my family and the helpless poor farmers of the village. Which are completely harassing and false cases. Nuruzzaman was an influential person in the Awami League party during the previous government. The Awami League office is still adjacent to their market. Using that party influence, he filed a total of 10 false and harassing cases against 20 people of the village, including 5 cases in my name, 07 in the name of my father Nazmul Hoda, 5 in the name of my brother Md. Abdur Rahim and 1 in the name of my mother Ramesha Begum, and these people abused the power of the Awami League and forcibly arrested us without investigation.
We lost everything due to the anger of the case-bearer Moniruzzaman. Moniruzzaman has threatened me several times by calling me on 01787-921873, claiming to be RAB, to take me away. The cases were filed at the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Rajshahi, 1, Godagari Model Police Station and Rajpara Police Station, Rajshahi. The cases are Case No. 21 of 7 October 2021 at Godagari Model Police Station, Case No. 423 of 3 December 2021, Case No. 426 of 16 November 2021, Case No. 433 of 27 December 2021, Case No. 437P of 2022, Case No. 449P of 7 March 2021, Case No. 516P of 2022, Case No. 14534 of 11 October 2024 and Case No. GR 458/22 of 8 November 2022 at Rajpara Police Station. He has also filed multiple harassment cases in the village court.
In some cases, Moniruzzaman himself was used as the plaintiff in the cases, in some cases his brother Badiuzzaman was used, and in some cases his cousin Matin was used as the plaintiff.
He further said, "I and my family, along with the helpless poor people of the village, demand that the false and fabricated and harassing cases filed by Police Officer Moniruzzaman be withdrawn. I also humbly request the current government of the country, including the administration, to properly investigate the cases filed in our name and bring the real culprits to justice."
Amir Hossain of the area said, "I lost my 5 cows after falling into a false case filed by police officer Moniruzzaman. Some people filed cases by selling paddy, while others sold land. Some of them also lost their jobs. Moniruzzaman has also framed the women of the house in the case. We have become completely peaceful after falling into his case."
