Police have arrested 17 people in Kurigram as part of the ongoing nationwide Operation Devil Hunt. They were arrested in separate raids in the district in the last 24 hours. Kurigram Superintendent of Police Md. Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the matter.
Those arrested in the operation are Abudar Rahim alias Mehedi Hasan Nayan (27), vice-president of Belgachha Union Chhatra League in Kurigram Sadar, Nur E-Elahi Tuhin (50), former chairman of Ramna Union in Chilmari Upazila and former president of Chilmari Ramna Union Chhatra League, Samiul Islam alias Sagar Mia (26), active member of the Awami League in Ramna Union, Zakiul Islam (32). Abdur Rouf (40), general secretary of Ward No. 5 of Roumari Union in Roumari Upazila, Saddam Hossain Jibon, Chhatra League member of Ward No. 9 of Dantabhanga Union in Roumari, Shahidul Islam (40), joint general secretary of Ward No. 7 of Rajibpur Union in Char Rajibpur Upazila, Ashish Kumar Sarkar, office secretary of Rajarhat Upazila Awami League, Rajarhat Tograihat Mujib Sainik Oikya Parishad President Ziaur Rahman (22), Ward No. 7 Awami League Joint Secretary Rafiqul Islam of Pathardubi Union No. 1 in Bhurungamari Upazila, Ward No. 5 Chhatra League President Ariful Islam (25), Ward No. 5 Andharizhar Union of Bhurungamari, Ward No. 1, Bhurungamari, Ward No. 2, Bhurungamari, Ward No. 2, Bhurungamari, Ward No. 3, Bhurungamari, Ward No. 4, Bhumandanga Union Jubo League General Secretary Mofizul Haque (40), Nageshwari Upazila's Raiganj Union's banned Chhatra League active member Shahadat Hossain (29), Ulipur Upazila branch Awami League former General Secretary Shafiqur Rahman (53), Naodanga School and College's banned Chhatra League General Secretary Sheikh Raihan Pallab (20), Fulbari Upazila Awami League member Golam Wadud (55),
Kurigram District Police Media Officer and OC (DB) Md. Bazlar Rahman said that the 17 detainees were sent to jail through the Kurigram Chief Judicial Magistrate Court today, Friday.
