Seven leaders of the banned Awami League and Chhatra League have been arrested in 'Operation Devil Hunt' in Sunamganj.
The arrested are Ramzan Ali, a resident of Mangalkata village, vice-president of Jahangir Nagar Union Awami League in Sadar Upazila; Abul Kalam Azad, a resident of Ghasigaon village, former convener of Jahangir Nagar Union Jubo League; Shahan Uddin, a resident of Baglakara village, former organizing secretary of the banned organization Chhatra League's Shantiganj (South Sunamganj) Upazila branch; Akramin Mia, vice-president of South Sreepur Union branch in Tahirpur Upazila; Khokon Mia, a resident of Rouha village, president of Sramik League of Banshikunda South Union under Madhyanagar Police Station; Kamrul Hasan Tera Mia, a resident of Keshabpur village, office secretary of Jagannathpur Municipality's ward Awami League; and Jane Alam, a resident of Noagaon village, president of Islampur Union Jubo League in Chhatak Upazila.
On Tuesday, the officer-in-charge of the district police's media cell said that a special operation 'Operation Devil Hunt' was conducted in various police stations of Sunamganj district to arrest anti-national gangs, terrorists and miscreants. As part of this, seven people were arrested in various places in the district on Monday night.
